Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce began a review on February 11 into the existing antidumping duties on pre-painted galvanized and zinc-aluminum alloy coated steel from China and Korea, as well as into unpainted Zn-Al alloy coated steel products from China and Taiwan, official sources in Bangkok said Wednesday. The review could take up to one year.
Antidumping duties for a five-year period were enforced effective January 10 last year on these products which are categorized under HS codes starting with 7210611, 7210619, 7210701 and 7210709.
For pre-painted zinc-aluminum coated steel, imports from China, Korea and Taiwan were levied with AD penalties of 5.56-42.88%, 0-10.25%, 18.39-44.77% respectively. For unpainted zinc-aluminum coated steel, imports from China, Korea and Taiwan were hit with duties of 2.36-26.22%, 13.82-22.55% and 2.59-39.12% respectively.
BlueScope Thailand, the petitioner of the reviews, had shown that dumping of the targeted products had occurred despite the imposition of antidumping duties, the official said. BlueScope was also the petitioner in the antidumping case against the targeted imports.
The existing anti-dumping duties would continue to be levied during the review period, the official said
